Message from Bishop Kevin Vann

STATEMENT FROM BISHOP KEVIN VANN REGARDING THE DISPENSATION FROM THE OBLIGATION TO ATTEND SUNDAY MASS

Since the beginning of March 2020, Bishop Vann continues to generously concede a dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass to people who fall into various categories. Specifically, those who are over the age of 65; those who have an underlying health condition; those who are truly fearful that they might contract the virus; and those who are sick, including those who have tested positive for the coronavirus and those who were exposed to them for fifteen consecutive minutes or more. While the diocesan bishop has the authority to dispense one, for good reason, from the obligation to attend Mass on Sunday, he does not have the authority to dispense one from a Divine Law – in this case, from the commandment to keep holy the Lord’s Day. A member of the faithful who avails him/herself of the dispensation for legitimate reasons is expected to view the Sunday Mass on television on Saturday evening or Sunday; he or she may visit www.rcbo.org for a list of live-streaming services throughout the Diocese of Orange. Especially those confined to their homes should take special care to read the Scriptures, pray the Rosary, read spiritual books, and to undertake other pious practices in the spirit of keeping holy the Lord’s Day (Sunday). Moreover, the faithful are expected to adhere to the expectations laid out in canon 222 §1, that is, “to assist with the needs of the Church.” If they do not meet the conditions listed above, they are bound by the obligation to attend Sunday Mass.

Normally, on the third Monday of the month, we have 24-hour Eucharistic Adoration but because we will be OUTSIDE, we will close our adoration at 10 pm on Monday.  You have a choice to be outside with distance from each other, or inside your car.  There are spaces only for about 9 cars.  It will be a beautiful time!

KMCC Message [2020/07/13, 8PM]

[Monday, July 13, 2020; 8:00 PM]

Dear Parishioners,
All staff members of KMCC have been tested within the past week and all have come out negative. Fr. Eugene and Sister Evangelica have tested three times and all negative, with the last test taken last Thursday. We thank everyone for their support and prayers.

Many of you have heard by now that the Governor of California has barred churches from gathering inside. However, the official order specifically states, “Counties that have remained on the County Monitoring List for 3 consecutive days will be required to shut down the following industries or activities unless they can be modified to operate outside or by pick-up.” “Worship services” were included among these activities. Therefore, we are permitted to gather outside for Masses. Therefore, ALL MASSES, including weekday daily Mass will be outside.

** PUBLIC MASSES will resume on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 9:00 AM.

** ALL MASSES WILL BE OUTDOORS!
Should be enjoyable as we gather outdoors like the crowds did when Jesus multiplied the loaves and the fishes.

Please bring the following items with you:

1) ** YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN CHAIRS!
2) Something to block the sun (big hat, fan, etc.)
3) Cushion to kneel on during the Mass (towel, etc.)
4) Your own hand sanitizer (so you can apply just before receiving Holy Communion)
5) Prepare (dress) for the weather
6) Headphones to connect to your cellphone in case you want to listen to the Mass audio broadcast.

PLEASE COME TO SUNDAY MASSES ACCORDING TO YOUR DISTRICT!
District 1 & 4 – Sat. Vigil
District 3 & 5 – 7:30 AM
District 2 & 6 – 9:30 AM
English – 11:30 AM

Sunday Masses will also have Zoom audio broadcast. This means that if you come to Mass you will be able to listen to the Mass in your car (but you will not be able to see the Mass). Zoom phone number and meeting ID will be given at the church. For the 9:30 am (Kor) and 11:30 am (Eng) Masses, you may see the Mass via livestream on your phone in your car, but you will need to use your own phone data. You will need to come out of your car towards the main gathering area to receive Holy Communion.

A couple changes for our Masses:
(1) We ask for the assembly to no longer sing during Mass.
(2) For now, lectors and sacristans will join with all other liturgical ministries that have been discontinued.

COVID-19 SAFETY GUIDELINES:
1) Always wear a mask.
2) Always maintain a minimum of 6 feet distance with others.
3) Wash and sanitize your hands frequently.
4) Stay home and avoid unnecessary travel.
5) Stay home if you are even a little bit sick.
6) Stay home if you have been in contact with anybody who is sick.
7) Use extra precaution if you live with an elderly person or someone with underlying health conditions.
8) Recommended for you to stay home if you are 65 and older or have underlying health conditions.
9) Try not to touch your mask and if you do sanitize hands immediately after.
10) Avoid putting your fingers to your eyes, nose, or mouth.
11) Smile.

Things are changing all the time and so we will always try to update you asap.

No matter what, we go with the flow and do all things to praise and glorify our Lord Jesus Christ.
